The CNKC is held every three years and is a key event in the selection of the Men’s and Women’s National Teams which will compete in the World Championships. The World Kendo Championships is held every three years hosted by the International Kendo Federation since 1970. The Canadian Kendo Federation (http://www.kendo-canada.com) was founded in 1970, and Canada has participated in every World Championships.
This year is the 19th edition of the Canadian National Kendo Championship, and it will be held August 5 (Sat) ~ August 6 (Sun) at the Markham Pan Am Centre in Markham, Ontario north of Toronto. There are over 1000 kendoka and more than 50 kendo clubs (dojo) in Canada from Victoria BC in the West to St. John’s NL in the East. Many of them will be competing to be the Canadian National Champion. Spectators are welcome at the event.
