Membership Fees & Expected Costs

Toronto Kendo Club Fees & Expected Costs:

Toronto Kendo Club fees ($420.00/Year Dojo membership fee). To become a new member, download the form & bring it to your first class. The Club fees are collected 4 times a year, $105 due on January, April, July and October of each year. The CKF & OKF fees are collected once a year before the beginning of each new year.

Depending on the student progress (6-9 months), the Sensei will inform the student when they are ready to put on Kendo Armour (Bogu – equipment cost varies from store to store: $1000.00 – $1500.00, again depending on the quality of the material).

Expected equipment costs, would be about 3-4 shinai’s per year depending on how well they maintain the shinai (based at $35.00-$45.00/shinai) A high quality Carbon Graphite Shinai starts at $400.00 (not allowed at Tournaments, more for regular practices)

If the student wishes to compete in tournaments, their fees must be up-to-date with the club and with the Canadian Kendo Federation. Tournaments vary in price from $45.00-$50.00, most tournaments include a lunch and are normally held on a Saturday.

CKF Annual gradings are held twice a year, again fees must be up-to-date with the the club and with the Canadian Kendo Federation. (cost varies on the rank applying, starts at $40.00 & up).
